Essential Tools for PM

We believe product management is as much of a discipline as it is a role on a company org chart. A PM tool kit is essential for maintaining the PM discipline, and helping organizations put the right folks in the right places on the org chart, are two of our favorite things to do.


The Problem

A few years ago, XOi Technologies, one of the fastest growing tech companies in Nashville, knew it needed robust product management to accomplish its goals. Fortune’s Path worked with XOI’s product, technology, and leadership teams to assess then current practices and identify specific deliverables that would advance XOi’s immediate needs and create a foundation for future growth.

The Solution

Fortune’s Path created a product management tool kit that included templates for common tasks like prioritization, backlog management, and communicating with internal audiences. Fortune’s Path also created templates for documenting requirements, customer requested enhancements, and defect tickets that made it easier for developers to troubleshoot issues and build new functionality.

Fortune’s Path helped XOi define key roles in the product group, created a scoring matrix to evaluate candidates, evaluated resumes, and conducted initial interviews. The process helped XOi narrow their search from dozens of resumes to a manageable set of top candidates. Fortune’s Path also did an analysis of how the product team spent their time and how well their activities aligned with XOi’s goals.
